Your Role
As the Medication Room Coordinator, you will oversee all medication room operations to ensure compliance with Title 22 regulations and internal policy standards. You will manage medication inventory, coordinate with pharmacies, and supervise medication technicians to guarantee accuracy and timeliness of medication administration. The role includes maintaining audit readiness, supporting regulatory reviews, and collaborating closely with the Executive Director, Interdisciplinary Team, primary care providers, and families.
You will be responsible for monitoring medication documentation, implementing corrective actions when necessary, and maintaining strict infection control and safety standards. This position requires leadership skills to provide ongoing training and mentorship to Med Tech staff while fostering a culture of compliance and accountability.

Key Responsibilities
The Medication Room Coordinator is accountable for the overall organization and security of the medication room, medication carts, and all related systems. You will manage inventory, track refills, oversee disposal, and conduct regular audits to prevent discrepancies. Direct supervision of Med Techs is a core function, including scheduling, performance evaluations, and compliance training.
This role ensures accurate and timely medication administration, monitoring the MAR for correctness and ensuring that changes, new orders, and discontinued medications are properly documented and communicated. You will also lead the incident response process for medication errors, ensuring immediate corrective action, provider communication, and proper reporting in the electronic documentation system.
In addition, you will attend care plan meetings, collaborate with hospice or home health partners when necessary, and ensure all residents’ medication needs align with their overall care goals. This position is highly collaborative, requiring frequent communication with the Interdisciplinary Team and participation in quality assurance initiatives.
Requirements
Candidates must be at least 18 years of age and meet Level 3 Caregiver standards, including completion of medication administration competency assessments. Previous experience as a medication technician in an RCFE or healthcare setting is required, with supervisory experience strongly preferred. Strong organizational and communication skills are essential, as is the ability to manage audits and regulatory compliance processes.
Employment requirements include a TB test and health screening (LIC 503), current First Aid and CPR certification, and criminal background clearance (LIC 508). Physical requirements include the ability to lift up to 30 pounds, stand for extended periods, and perform tasks requiring manual dexterity and visual acuity.
